Portals and Arcades

A commissioned piece for ‘de Rotterdamse Munt’ a communal garden in the city of Rotterdam. I designed 2 double and 3 single gates with 2 different patterns, cut out of Corten steel.

Organic and architectural inspired repetitive shapes, standing on vertical pillars or tree trunks, are filling the frames of the gates. Slowly changing color, from steel to rust. During sunny days they look bright red and orange, while on grey rainy days the seem more brown and dark.
