The mountains of Storhaugen

Making new summits

On top of Storhaugen near the ruins of the Salangsverket there are still a lot of traces of the things that happened over there. On one side you have the quarry, a large area which used to be a mountain and is now a hole containing the ghost of the old mountain. From there a track runs to the ruins of the buildings which did the first processing of the mined rocks, mainly grinding them to a workable size. The last traces of this trajectory are still visible in the shape of two mountains made from the debris of the old mountain. Together with the surrounding mountains they make a new landscape, both natural and manmade.
