Squares of mass displacement

Directly on the waterline of an artificial lake on the ‘Betonplaat’, a giant concrete slab which used to be a concrete factory, two squares of one square meter each emerge. The first square is cut and broken out of the concrete, giving the water more space to come further out to the land. The second square, which is made with the debris of the first square, is poured on top of the concrete, pushing the waterline back into the lake making the sum of the two squares equal to zero.
